Overview
The Safety Care and Nurturing Clinic (SCAN), part of the Division of Child Adversity and Resilience, Provides Trauma informed care to children and adolescents along with the families involved in the allegations of abuse and neglect. The Scan Clinic has open access and accepts referrals from all sources including physician offices, individuals, and families. Medical Assistants in the SCAN Clinic provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under direct supervision of a physician, APRN, PA, or RN.
Assignment of job responsibilities are delegated by the medical provider, RN, Charge Nurse.
Diagnoses seen are:
- Child maltreatment
- Nutritional neglect
- Physical abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Suspected child abuse or neglect
Procedures and treatments performed include:
- Anogenital exams
- Extensive patient and family education and training
- Evaluations of possible child sexual abuse
- evaluation of possible physical abuse such as fractures, burns, bruises, or head injuries
- Evaluation of possible child neglect
Medical Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under direct supervision of a physician, APRN, PA, or RN. Assignment of job responsibilities are delegated by the medical provider, RN, Charge Nurse

- Provides supportive patient care.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficient and safe operations.
- Performs clerical functions.
- Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
- Shares responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skill level).
- HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience 1 year of experience in patient or customer facing roles
- Other Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- One of the following:
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant required upon hire - BLS certification Required Upon Hire
- Must be able to successfully complete medication calculation testing

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $19.68/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
