The Opportunity

EY is seeking a Data Architecture Manager with strong knowledge of data and technology within the Life Sciences (Clinical R&D and Commercial) sector, and a proven track record of delivery. The role leads the design, development, and governance of client data architectures, ensuring scalable, secure, and business‑aligned solutions. You will manage timelines, budgets, and quality, and lead both technical and non‑technical teams to implement cutting‑edge technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build scalable solutions for life sciences clients that unify, enrich, and derive insights from varied data sources.
  • Guide clients through the modern data science, analytics, and software engineering landscape.
  • Perform technical development to ensure data science solutions are properly engineered and maintained.
  • Manage and deliver processes, solutions, and projects with a focus on quality and risk management.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and identify innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices.
  • Lead workshops and design sessions with stakeholders to capture requirements and align on data architecture strategies.
  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical layers of data solutions.
  • Conduct data design reviews to improve usability and efficiency.
  • Prepare and present proposals for highly complex projects.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define data requirements and implement strategies.
  • Design and build solutions on AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Develop prospective designs for data ingestion, processing, and provisioning layers.
  • Apply data integration best practices and implement standardized delivery processes.
  • Interact with senior client technology leaders to align solutions with business goals.
  • Experience with enterprise‑grade solution implementations and BI/data analytics databases.
  • Knowledge of big‑data architecture patterns (Lambda, Kappa) and performance benchmarking.
  • Ensure data security for data in motion and at rest.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10‑15 years of full‑time experience in Data Architecture/Engineering.
  • 2‑4 years of experience managing technical teams.
  • At least 2 years working in life sciences domains (Clinical R&D and Commercial).
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Self‑motivated with strong ownership of problem resolution.
  • Ability to multi‑task under pressure and work independently.
  • Team player, adaptable to new technologies and standards.
  • Participation in all aspects of AI and Data solution delivery lifecycle.

  • Building and Managing Relationships and Client Trust.
  • Commercial astuteness and digital fluency.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.

  • Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with performance‑based rewards. Salary ranges: $125,500–$230,200 (US); $150,700–$261,600 for NYC/WA/CA (ex‑Sacramento).
