University Health is seeking a fluent Spanish-English Medical Interpreter to join our Language Access Services team. In this vital role, you ll help Spanish-speaking patients and families communicate clearly with doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff. Your interpretation will support safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate care
.
Interpret in medical settings between Spanish-speaking patients/families and healthcare professionals to facilitate clear communication.
Support safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate care through accurate interpretation and confidentiality.
Required:
Spanish and English fluency (written and spoken).Experience interpreting in medical or community settings.
Willingness to complete or have completed a professional medical interpreter training program
.Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and cultural respect.
Minimum of six months experience in medical interpretation.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated fluency in English and target language
, with a passing score of 85% or higher on a validated language competency exam.Successful completion of a formal medical interpreter training program (e.g., Bridging the Gap, JCCC, SBA, or equivalent).
National certification through a recognized body (e.g., CCHI or NBCMI).
Experience interpreting in clinical environments with diverse patient populations.
