Education Litigation Associate

Husch Blackwell LLP is a national law firm with multiple locations across the United States, dedicated to our clients and the industries they serve.

We have an immediate opening in our Kansas City office for an Education Litigation Associate with three to five years of experience
, including federal judicial clerkship experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience with all aspects of state and federal education litigation and administrative proceedings, including experience defending constitutional claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against governmental entities and officials. Familiarity with immunity defenses, such as qualified immunity and Eleventh Amendment immunity is essential. Experience handling substantive claims that involve free speech, freedom of religion, due process, sex discrimination and harassment, race discrimination and harassment, and disability discrimination is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, strong writing skills, a commitment to the higher education industry, superior interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated record of working well under pressure. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional judgment, the ability to effectively handle multiple projects, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action. Candidates should have an active Missouri and Kansas bar license or commit to obtaining both as soon as possible.
