• Direct and supervise the development and management of departmental operating budgets.
• Oversee group activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to projects.
• Collaborate with other groups, offices, and divisions on work‑sharing and opportunities.
• Drive implementation of HNTB’s strategic plan and Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA) process on project pursuits and markets.
• Implement the contracting (SCA) process including scope, work plan, and fee reviews for all contracting activities impacting the group.
• Implement the project delivery (SDA) process with work planning, monthly project reviews, and other performance methods to ensure quality, on‑time, on‑schedule work.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities including client discovery, proposal generation, interviews, and win‑to‑work activities.
• Maintain client contacts and lead/assist in sales and marketing efforts for departmental growth.
• Support the execution of the office strategic plan and, if selected, participate in the Office Leadership Team (OLT).
• Recruit, hire, develop, and retain department staff; support department managers with staff plans, performance reviews, compensation, and succession planning.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality; perform technical discipline tasks such as research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation.
• Lead a group of 25–40+ employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 12 years of practical experience, including 4 years of supervisory experience.

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 17 years of practical experience.
• 4 years of supervisory experience leading more than 25 people.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• Master of Business Administration or Business Management.
• Strong client relationships, preferably with Class I railroads and state DOTs.
• Strong technical skills in bridge design with experience in all types of bridge structures.
