As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Your work will support economic vitality and public safety while advancing freight rail infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Project management, including planning, directing, and monitoring railroad projects from concept through construction.
- Coordinate project staffing and workload to deliver quality deliverables on schedule.
- Implement QA/QC procedures and exceed client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget.
- Develop and execute training for personnel as established by strategic plans.
- Develop and maintain close relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Business development for the Freight Rail Market Sector.
- Track upcoming project opportunities and collaborate on project pursuits.
- Work closely with HDR’s Transportation Market Sector Directors, Transportation Client Managers, and Field Services leadership in the pursuit and execution of major railroad projects.
- Track major railroad construction and public project prospects, and develop and implement capture plans for new projects/programs.
- Coach and mentor staff in the pursuit and execution of railroad Public Projects and Construction Management services.
- Increase HDR’s visibility in the Railroad Public Projects and Construction Management services space by actively participating in strategic state and national organizations.
Client Managers are responsible for personally knowing HDR’s clients’ needs and how HDR’s services relate to those needs. They strategically position HDR through collaboration with the client team and national leaders, facilitate the right resources, and present a uniform HDR value proposition. Focus is on delivery, client satisfaction, and growth of the account.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Program management experience: 3 years as a deputy to a Program Manager for programs totaling ≥$200 million; or 5 years as a Project Manager/Project Controls Manager for programs ≥$200 million; or 10 years as a Project Manager directing multi‑disciplinary teams for projects ≥$50 million.
- Strong leadership skills with experience building cohesive team culture and managing teammates in various locations.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to client executives and large audiences.
- Experience implementing projects or programs using alternative delivery methods such as design‑build, progressive design‑build, or construction management at‑risk.
- Familiarity with tools for managing large programs – PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, dashboard analytics, etc.
