Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Slitter Entry Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Shift: 3rd Shift - 7 PM to 5:30 AM
Pay: $20 - $23 per hour plus Production Incentive Bonus (recently averages $3 to $5 per hour)
What You’ll Do- Observes all safety and LOTO rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Performs advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
- Inspects materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
- Records and reports any deficiencies in quality to the supervisor/quality department.
- Maintains equipment tooling and tools necessary for job completion.
- Diagnoses equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays.
- Completes reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
- Assists maintenance in repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Participates in continuous improvement programs.
- Performs housekeeping tasks to keep work areas clean and safe.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to read and write, and maintain production records and logs.
- Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
- Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
- Experience with measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
- Ability to operate forklift, crane, and other necessary equipment.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is required.
- Leads and promotes health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
- Requires constant movement, manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours.
- Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for 10–12 hours.
- Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
- Other physical requirements as needed for the role.
