Utility II – Machine Operator – Utility
As a Machine Operator – Utility at Atlas Tube
, a division of Zekelman Industries
, in Kansas City, MO, you will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Shift: 3rd Shift – 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM
- Pay: $20.00–$32.00 USD per hour, plus production incentive bonus (average $3.00–$5.00 per hour)
- Observe all safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) rules to operate equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Perform advanced equipment setup and calibration to meet production requirements.
- Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
- Record and report quality deficiencies to supervisors or the quality department.
- Maintain equipment tooling and tools required for job completion.
- Diagnose equipment and quality issues while minimizing scrap and downtime.
- Complete production, changeover, and scrap material reports accurately.
- Assist maintenance teams with equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.
- Lead and promote health and safety work practices in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to read and write English and maintain production records and logs.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience (preferred).
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
- Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and other equipment required for the role.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles for extended periods.
- Ability to perform constant movement requiring manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for several hours when required.
- Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to stand for 10–12 hours.
- Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
