Position Summary
BLAQUE KC is seeking a passionate and detail‑oriented Communications Coordinator to support the day‑to‑day execution of the organization’s digital and marketing communications. This entry‑level role is ideal for a creative, organized communicator who is eager to build foundational skills in nonprofit communications while contributing to meaningful, mission‑driven work.
Under the direction of the Vice President of Strategic Communications & Brand Management, and working closely with the Manager of Strategic Communications, the Communications Coordinator will support social media management and monthly performance reporting across Instagram, You Tube, Linked In, X, and Facebook, along with graphic creation, content scheduling, and campaign execution. This role plays a critical support function in bringing BLAQUE KC’s storytelling to life across platforms, ensuring content is timely, visually compelling, and aligned with brand standards.
Key Responsibilities Content Creation & Social Media- Create, draft, and publish engaging content across BLAQUE KC’s social media platforms, including captions, hashtags, and basic visual assets, with a focus on driving audience engagement
- Support social media management, including posting, scheduling, and community monitoring
- Stay informed on emerging social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to inform content development
- Assist with storytelling for campaigns, events, and organizational milestones
- Design graphics and visual assets using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar platforms, in alignment with brand guidelines
- Schedule content in accordance with the editorial calendar and campaign timelines
- Maintain organized digital asset libraries (graphics, captions, templates, and files)
- Track social media performance metrics, including reach, engagement, and audience growth
- Prepare and share monthly social media analytics summaries to support data‑informed decision‑making
- Assist with basic reporting for campaigns and key initiatives
- Support marketing and communications campaigns across major programs and initiatives
- Assist the communications team with additional duties as needed, including event promotion, content prep, and administrative support
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure communications reflect program goals and community impact
- 0–2 years of communications, marketing, or related experience (nonprofit experience preferred but not required)
- Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
- Familiarity with social media platforms and social media management tools
- Experience creating graphics using Canva, Photoshop, or similar design tools
- Basic understanding of analytics and reporting tools
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and stay organized in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong interest in storytelling, digital media, and mission‑driven communications
