Summary

Neonatal ICU, Mother-Baby, Labor & Delivery, Lactation, and Perinatal Education departments, With 150-200 deliveries a month, two ORs for cesarean sections, and an average daily census of eight NICU babies, our units are busy, fast-paced, and offer the opportunity to provide specialty and critical care in a collaborative and supportive environment. Our hospital has earned the Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission, setting us apart in the community as a leader in maternal and neonatal care.

We work closely with Children’s Mercy neonatology specialists who staff our NICU and delivery team 24/7, as well as respiratory care and other specialists, to provide the best possible outcomes. SUMMARY:

Neonatal nursing practice requires integration of specialized knowledge, clinicals skills, and professional behaviors. Under direction of maternal child health leadership, provides care of ill or preterm neonates. Understands the complex newborn disease processes. Provides care to the neonate in the delivery room, newborn nursery, subacute care, and acute care areas. Assesses and manages care of the neonate, able to respond appropriately to serious and life‑threatening conditions, ability to make skilled, knowledgeable assessments of neonates, anticipate illness, or minimize the effects of illness.

Able to contribute to a collaborative support team approach to care, promote family bonding, provide education, within a developmentally supportive care environment.

One year of NICU Level III preferred.

Basic Computer Skills.

Required:

BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 6 months of hire
