Job Details
• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in renal and transplant patients within a tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital,
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15,
• Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with rare flex to 1:6; all transplant patients have a 2:1 ratio for 48 hours,
• 8 weekend shifts required in a 6-week schedule period, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
• Regular floating may be required between departments and units, including across facilities,
• Uses Epic EMR; EPIC training options available pre-start,
• No on-call requirements,
Job Requirements
• Active MO or compact RN license required at time of consideration,
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in renal PCU with at least 1 year in the past 12 months and no employment gap over 90 days,
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required,
•
Skills required:
renal transplant, peritoneal dialysis catheters (PD cath), hemodialysis, thymo administration, wound care, management of drains, TPN, diabetes encephalopathy, acute renal rejection, and cardiac monitoring,
• Must be able to interpret and manage dysrhythmias, respond to emergencies, and provide pre- and post-hemodialysis care,
• IV therapy including central and peripheral line management, PCA, heparin protocols, blood product administration, and airway/oxygen support,
• Must provide two recent references, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from the past year,
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility,
Additional Information
• Responsibilities include care of renal and transplant patients, IV insulin protocols, thymo titration, and wound vac management,
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shifts may be required as needed,
• Completion of pre-employment modules for Epic, infusion pump, and glucometer training required prior to start,
• Navy scrubs are the required dress code,
• Free parking is provided,
• No travel partners accepted,
• Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO) allowed,
• First-time travelers are accepted,
• Assignment may be canceled if unwilling to float between units or facilities,
• Tenure policy requires a minimum 18-month gap for previous employees,
