Assistant Manager

Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager works closely with the Store Manager to support all aspects of store operations. Key responsibilities include ensuring a positive customer experience, efficient inventory management, and leading a well-trained team. The role involves overseeing daily operations, maintaining store standards, building a positive work culture, and supporting change‑management efforts within the retail organization.

• Ensure a welcoming environment by greeting customers and maintaining store appearance, displays, and signage.
• Train, coach, and develop team members to provide exceptional customer service and engagement.
• Oversee inventory flow, including markdowns, ticketing, and clearance management, while maintaining accurate pricing and organized stockrooms.
• Ensure timely removal of damaged or expired items and set daily and weekly freight goals to support efficient operations.
• Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve sales targets; collaborate with the store manager to create and execute marketing and promotional campaigns.
• Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist Store Manager with daily operations and employee supervision.
• Maintain proper inventory controls and facilitate inventory transactions, ensuring compliance with shrink‑control standards.
• Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory‑taking, cash‑reconciliation, or customer services.
• Ensure staff adherence to all Citi Trends, Inc. policies and procedures.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Competent in basic mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in retail management or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of retail experience as an Assistant Manager; 3‑5 years of overall retail experience.
