Brief DescriptionAt Big Iron, great training fuels great sales. Our Sales Trainer leads the charge, building programs that sharpen skills, improve performance, and ensure every salesperson understands our tools, processes, and values. The Sales Trainer drives Big Iron’s success by developing and delivering a comprehensive sales training program that strengthens the knowledge, skills, and performance of our sales employees and contractors. This role ensures the sales team fully understands Big Iron’s processes, tools, and values while aligning with company goals.
The ideal candidate is an experienced sales professional—preferably with a background in agriculture or equipment sales—who understands rural markets and can translate that real-world experience into effective, relatable training.
- Design, implement, and manage the Big Iron Sales Training Program to align with business objectives.
- Identify skill gaps and create targeted, engaging training content for sales teams.
- Deliver training virtually and in person on sales techniques, customer engagement, the auction process, and Big Iron’s sales tools.
- Partner with subject matter experts and leadership to develop materials that reflect current agricultural and equipment market trends.
- Manage and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS) to track participation and results.
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching to improve performance and reinforce training.
- Conduct ride‑alongs and shadowing to provide real-world feedback and guidance.
- Collaborate with regional and sales leadership to identify and address development needs.
- Lead onboarding for new hires, ensuring a quick ramp‑up to productivity.
- Offer ongoing development programs for existing sales team members to enhance performance and retention.
- Measure training effectiveness through feedback, performance metrics, and sales results.
- Refine training content and delivery methods to reflect evolving tools, technology, and market conditions.
- Work cross‑functionally with Sales Leadership, HR, and Operations to ensure alignment with company strategies.
- Maintain accurate training records and manage priorities effectively.
- Uphold Big Iron’s mission, vision, core values, and safety standards.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance; ability to travel up to 50%.
Qualifications & Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Business, Agriculture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years in Learning & Development or sales training.
- 3+ years of outside sales experience—agriculture or equipment industry preferred.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills with proven success engaging large and small audiences.
- Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Experience creating and delivering both in‑person and online learning programs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and report on training effectiveness.
- Self‑motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
