Public Safety Officer – St. Joseph Medical Center

We are seeking a Public Safety Officer to perform security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols. The role is per diem (PD/PRN). Shift is variable, hours variable.

Location:

St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, MO.

• Schedule minimum 4 shifts per month with at least 2 on weekends.
• Access Control and Patrols: monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols.
• Emergency Response: respond to emergency codes, assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment.
• De-escalation and Conflict Management: intervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated patients or visitors.
• Patient and Visitor Assistance: escort patients or visitors, provide directions and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issues.
• Incident Documentation: write detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report to supervisors or risk management.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years experience in healthcare security supervision or related field.
• Reserve Deputy / Police Officer experience, or experience with Department of Corrections, Military Law Enforcement, or healthcare security management.

• State Drivers license upon hire.
• Current DMV H6 report or Driving History Report.

• Two-year college degree preferred.
