PURPOSE OF JOB: Assist leadership for the school’s entire athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation, and improvement of specific activities sponsored.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist leadership in team dynamics according to MSHSAA standards for the activity of Dance.Help implement and enforce activity standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions for sponsors.Help with planning activities that support the school’s athletic teams.Dance Team performs three (3) productions for the following athletic contests:
Homecoming, Court Warming, plus one other school-specific event.Plans should be made for the team to support soccer, baseball, track, cross country, and swim by either promoting or participating in a “cheer section” during contests or events.Assist in the coordination of the program.Responsible for student supervision at practices and contests.Coordinate with the athletic team Head Coach for transportation and game management.Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used and inspect all athletic equipment and facilities (verify inventory) and submit documentation to the Athletic Director.Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management procedures.Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship.Ensure that regulations governing building use and hours are understood and enforced.Arrange for the systematic return of all school equipment, maintain a correct inventory, and hold the student-participant responsible for all equipment not returned in accordance with the KCMSD Athletic Department Handbook.Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments and arrange for the issuance of letters and special awards. All information will be turned into the Athletic Director within two weeks after the completion of the season.Work with the site-based Athletic Director to provide a solid program.Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications.Must complete MSHSAA Coaching Principles Course and First Aid Requirement.Other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-participants
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Teachers Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.
