Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Area Manager, Operations Manager EMS, Chief Pilot, Director of Operations, and the Manager of Scheduling Department and supervision of the Lead Pilot operates PHI’s helicopter for the purpose of transporting critically ill or injured patients, and for maintenance or administrative flights. Accepts flights after considering safety, weather, mechanical status, aircraft performance, airport environment and FAA compliance.

Conducts all operations in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with PHI, Inc. Operations Manual and PHI, Inc. Policies and Procedures Manual.

  • PHI Air Medical (operating under CAMTS guidelines)
  • Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) operations
  • First Officer S76 2‑Pilot Crew IFR/NVG (Instrument rating required)
  • 24‑hour operations (day/night rotation)
  • If successful applicant requires aircraft transition – 1 year minimum service requirement
  • Relocation package available – 2 year minimum service requirement if used
  • Housing will not be provided
Responsibilities Include
  • Ensure all paperwork is finished in a neat and accurate manner.
  • Keep the Lead Pilot/Area Manager informed of the operational status of his/her aircraft and make sure the aircraft is airworthy before, during and after the flight.
  • Represent PHI in a professional manner which includes being neat in appearance and courteous to all internal and external customers.
  • Comply with other duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Report all aircraft mechanical malfunctions by entering them in the aircraft engineering logbook.
  • Communicate mission status elements including itineraries, estimated time of arrival, etc., with medical crew, passengers, Communication Center, and Maintenance as appropriate.
  • Load and unload stretcher patients and/or isolette onto aircraft.
  • Complete written logs and reports as required by the company and the FAA.
  • Support company Safety Management System activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • High school GED required.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with instrument qualification and meet PHI’s total flight time requirements.
  • Strong customer service aptitude.
  • Current Class II FAA Medical Certificate.
  • 2000 Hrs. Total (1500 Hrs Helicopter).
  • 1000 Hrs. PIC Helicopters.
  • Must meet and maintain weight restriction limit for flight personnel according to policy.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, effectively, and clearly in person and by radio.
  • Must be able to pass pre‑placement physical exam including functional capacity exam (strength and flexibility assessment, lift 100 pounds) drug screening and background screen.
