Essential Functions- Assist students in performing activities that have been planned and initiated by the teacher.
- Provide individual assistance with academic tasks, interactions with other students, and other school activities.
- Assist in supervising students in general education classrooms, resource rooms, on the playground, lunchroom, bathroom, and other school or community environments.
- Carry out any behavior intervention plans or students assistance plans developed by the supervising teachers or IEP team.
- Assist in preparing instructional materials.
- Collect student performance data as directed by the teachers.
- Keep records as directed by the teachers.
- Assist in entering data for computerized education programs and records.
- Assist a student with daily living skills and self care as needed.
- Report to supervising teachers and/or administrators any problems or questions regarding the assigned students and their educational programs.
- Be aware of and follow all policies and regulations of the assigned school district and Keystone Learning Services.
- Be aware of and follow all policies and regulations regarding the confidentiality of student information.
Minimum Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Skills in maintaining confidentiality; can work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities in children; good rapport with parents, children, and staff; positive attitude regarding individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, some pushing and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. The employee is occasionally required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk (sometimes for extended distances, e.g. Field trips); and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience: Preferred two years of related experience especially with children.
Education: High School Diploma (Required).
Equivalency: Evidence of the ability to collaborate and work with a diverse customer base.
Salary Information$960.14 per month contribution towards health insurance, KPERS position, paid time off.
