Wind Technician II
Enel North America is seeking an onsite Wind Technician II to work at our Buffalo Dunes Wind Farm.
OverviewThis role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, installing, and repairing wind turbines and their internal and external components, including controllers. The technician will review manuals and schematic diagrams to determine required tasks, tools, equipment, and parts, ensuring turbines are returned to service promptly.
Responsibilities- Complete all scheduled maintenance for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment to maximize generation.
- Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot minor components and assist with major components.
- Perform current and voltage calculations as needed.
- Initiate reports and records associated with maintenance and repairs.
- Complete Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out (LOTO), JSA’s, and all documentation required to conduct maintenance and repairs safely.
- Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment (e.g., voltage testers, amp clamps, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment tools, and various hand and power tools).
- Experience with wind farm operations and maintenance.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no disqualifying offenses, limited moving violations).
- Ability to work around low- and medium-voltage equipment.
- Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time to other operational sites within the U.S. as needed.
- Availability to respond to site emergencies 24/7 as required.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Physical capability to climb turbine towers 100 + m, work at heights of 300 + ft in confined spaces, lift 50 lb daily, and wear PPE such as arc‑flash suits for extended periods.
- Pass a physical fitness exam and maintain a weight of 280 lb or less.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience in wind energy or a B.S. degree (electrical or technical) and at least one year of related experience or training.
- Strong attention to detail and adept with electrical test equipment (DMM, meggers, multi‑process calibration equipment).
- Solid knowledge in electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques.
