Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

# Accountant This role forms part of the Finance team at Village n Life, based in Camps Bay.
** The Role
** As Accountant, you’ll take ownership of financial management across two properties, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong financial controls. Working closely with the Group Financial Manager, you’ll manage monthly management accounts, budgets, tax compliance and cost control to support confident decision-making across operations and property companies.

You’ll be hands-on in overseeing reporting systems, ensuring revenue accuracy, and maintaining robust accounting practices across Evolution, Opera and Micros platforms. This role calls for someone detail-driven, dependable and proactive, with a passion for translating numbers into actionable insight.
** Key Responsibilities**– Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and financial reports  – Process monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations within set deadlines  – Ensure accuracy of revenue imports and monthly stats reporting  – Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure proper depreciation and asset controls  – Manage cash flow forecasting, treasury functions and related party reconciliations  – Oversee VAT and tax calculations, submissions and audit preparation  – Review budgets and rolling forecasts, providing variance analysis for management  – Verify payroll data, timesheets and departmental costs in line with approved Manplans  – Supervise procurement protocols, stock controls and cost of sales reviews  – Manage creditors and debtors reconciliations, payments and reporting  – Foster transparent communication with department heads and external suppliers  – Participate in monthly duty shifts and remain responsive to operational needs
** What We’re Looking For**– Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Cost & Management Accounting  – SAIPA completed articles with 1–2 years post-article experience  – 3–5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role  – Proven experience in cost of sales and management accounting  – Advanced MS Office skills  – Hospitality accounting experience advantageous  – Working knowledge of Evolution, Opera and Micros beneficial  – Strong analytical, communication and organisational skills  – High attention to detail, integrity and composure under pressure
