We are seeking an experienced and passionate Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic surgical team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, supporting surgeons with precision and expertise.

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Review patient health data relevant to the operative or invasive procedure (e.g., history and physical).
• Assist in surgeries by using instruments, retractors, suction, and sponging techniques.
• Handle and dissect tissues.
• Clamp and ligate vessels, coagulate bleeding points.
• Place drains and suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin as directed by the surgeon.
• Serve as a resource to peers and colleagues.
• Maintain regulatory, credentialing, and privileging requirements.
• Participate in ongoing education and competency verification.
• Ensure privacy and confidentiality of health information.

• Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA‑C) or equivalent certification.
• Licensure to practice in the State of Virginia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least two years of perioperative services experience, with a preference for orthopedic and total joint procedures.
