The Role and Responsibilities
As a Material Handler, your role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and finished goods through the production process. Whether receiving materials or managing finished goods, you are responsible for maintaining accurate inventories, ensuring timely movement of products, and supporting the production and distribution chain. Additionally, in this role, you may be involved in tasks such as sample collection for quality inspection and basic documentation to uphold high-quality standards.
By utilizing your keen attention to detail and dedication to upholding high-quality standards, you ensure efficient tracking and inventory management through handheld scanners and computers. Your commitment helps guarantee that all areas are properly stocked, sample collection is prioritized, and finished products are prepared for shipment.
- Quality Sample Collection: You are responsible for selecting and collecting representative samples of materials, products, or components in accordance with established sampling procedures and quality standards. By accurately documenting and labeling samples, you ensure proper traceability and maintain essential quality control records. Working in coordination with the quality assurance team, you align sample collection with quality standards and testing schedules. Additionally, by collaborating with production teams to gather samples at critical stages—such as raw materials, in-process items, or finished products—you help maintain product integrity and support the overall quality assurance process.
Your efforts contribute to consistent product quality and compliance with industry standards. - Material Handling, Inventory Control, and Shipping: You play a vital role in receiving, storing, and shipping materials and finished goods while ensuring precise inventory control. When receiving materials, such as coils, you may be responsible for unloading trucks, weighing, inspecting, and verifying items against packing lists to ensure accurate documentation. Using handheld scanners and computers, you efficiently track and store materials, keeping the production line consistently supplied without delays.
By maintaining accurate records and properly segregating materials by type, weight, and size, you help ensure inventory accuracy and availability. Following established procedures for rejected or damaged items further supports operational efficiency. In shipping, you oversee the packaging, palletizing, and preparation of finished goods, utilizing material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklifts, and hoists, along with electronic tools, to securely package and accurately label products for transport.
Your efficiency ensures shipments are completed on time, meeting delivery deadlines and customer expectations. - Safety and Compliance: Adhering to all safety protocols and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, you contribute to a safe working environment in both receiving and finished goods handling areas. Your commitment to proper housekeeping and compliance with safety regulations ensures that you and your colleagues can work safely, minimizing the risk of accidents around moving mechanical parts and other hazards.
You’ve received your High School Diploma or equivalent and have a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a material handler in a manufacturing work environment. You are forklift certified or have the ability to become certified within 30 days of hire. Experience using handheld scanners and computers for inventory control is preferred. You will work with a high-level of integrity, confidentiality, organization, and time management.

Your work is conducted in a dynamic manufacturing setting where exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures is common, necessitating the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols.
