Paint Technician
:
The Paint Technician is responsible for preparing and painting transformer units. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role.
- Review checklist and follow work order instructions to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Assess units prior to painting and check for issues (defects, leaks, etc.), escalating defect issues to lead or supervisor if discovered.
- Mix paint and ensure the viscosity is consistent with specifications.
- Replace paint in pots/drums as needed.
- Ensure paint guns are all in working order and spray pattern consistency is correct prior to painting the equipment.
- Clean unit off accordingly by air or tack cloth if needed.
- Apply primer and paint as required to comply with quality expectations.
- After primer and paint is complete, look over unit to ensure quality expectations are met.
- Reassemble spray unit parts as required.
- Move completed unit to final assembly.
- Follow all safety protocols including wearing appropriate PPE, respirator, glove, and safety glasses.
- Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workstation and area.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- OSHA 10 certified, preferred.
- 1 year experience in paint manufacturing, preferred.
- 1 year experience with material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.), preferred.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools preferred.
- Proven track record in safety excellence required.
- Adherence to all safety and environmental compliance regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders.
- Meet department and production goals set by supervisor.
- Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
- Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem‑solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment.
- Adherence to the company employee handbook policies and embodiment of the organization’s core values.
- Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
- Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Safe protocols require the completion and passing of a respiratory fit test.
- Lift 50 lbs from floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times.
- Stand and walk for long durations.
- Bend, squat, and kneel multiple times for long durations.
- Climb up and down a ladder multiple times.
- Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in both heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled.
