Position Summary:

The CNC Operator (Domes) is responsible for the operation of computer numerical control machines such as CNC, punch, mill, structural roll, beam line or angle line that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures in the department.

• Responsible for the understanding and operation of CNC equipment.
• Responsible for Quality Control procedures and documentation of parts.
• Reads job specifications and/or blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements (Part Layout).
• Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
• Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
• Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
• Responsible for learning, understanding and using MOP’s and SWI’s.
• Responsible for learning and using Epicor and MES Equipment.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and/or sketches.
• Ability to use simple math to perform basic calculations.
• Ability to demonstrate basic computer competencies.
• Knowledge and ability to use common measuring instruments such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometers.
• Solid problem-solving skills.
• Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
• Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
• Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
• Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience with CNC operation.

• While performing the duties of CNC Operator, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of CNC Operator, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
