AboutThe Role
We’re looking for a Dairy Supplier Quality Assurance and Dairy Farm Liaison to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety for raw milk and dairy ingredients across our supply chain. This role is critical in conducting farm audits, monitoring compliance with the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO), and maintaining Kosher, Halal, and other regulatory requirements.
You’ll act as the key link between dairy farms and our manufacturing facility, collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities (FDA, USDA, PMO inspectors) to uphold food safety standards and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do- Coordinate onboarding activities for new dairy suppliers with the procurement team.
- Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with Flora Food Group, SQF, and regulatory standards.
- Implement supplier quality control processes, including inspection and testing of incoming materials.
- Track supplier performance, maintain defect rate records, and contribute to monthly supplier reports.
- Address non-conformances and work with suppliers on corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance to suppliers to improve processes and reduce defects.
- Visit dairy farms to assess cleanliness, animal health, and sanitary practices.
- Ensure farm operations comply with PMO, federal, state, and company regulations.
- Review farm records for accuracy and compliance with PMO requirements.
- Monitor milk storage, transport, and handling for PMO compliance.
- Oversee microbiological and component testing of raw milk; analyze data and provide feedback to farms.
- Investigate quality deviations and implement corrective actions at the farm level.
- Manage PMO Appendix N program, including testing, documentation, and handling non-compliance issues.
- Act as liaison between farmers, suppliers, internal teams, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide data and reports required by federal milk market agencies.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements in safety, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Lead implementation of new policies and procedures, including training and change management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in quality assurance within dairy or food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, PMO).
- Experience with supplier audits, farm inspections, and quality systems.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to supplier and farm locations as needed.
