Essential Functions
  • Achieve targeted sales goal (volume and margin).
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships to strengthen loyalty and dealer reputation.
  • Continually improve personal selling capabilities to respond to customer needs more effectively.
  • Actively identify, seek, and obtain new prospects.
  • Review and implement technology solutions that create immediate and long‑term results.
  • Share information, solutions, and ideas that challenge the customer’s thinking using ROI, productivity, and efficiency data.
  • Follow AVE‑PLP’s sales process, including timely and accurate completion of all paperwork and equipment listing information.
  • Maintain a regional customer list and ensure scheduled and consistent contacts using the HUB.
  • Maintain working knowledge of used equipment values and describe equipment condition to ensure competitive sale pricing.
  • Coordinate with Store Managers, Parts, and Service to support customer needs.
  • Communicate with Product Innovation and Product Support to deliver equipment and technology performance data.
  • Plan and document customer interactions and meetings using the HUB.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of AVE‑PLP.
Qualifications
  • Consistently promote and support AVE‑PLP’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Strong knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate trading opportunities.
  • Familiarity with and ability to follow the Dealer Selling Process.
  • Knowledge of John Deere, competitive products, agricultural and turf equipment, and farming practices.
  • Ability to maintain positive, professional relationships with peers, management, and support resources.
  • Knowledge of current financing options for new and used equipment purchases.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard internet functions.
  • Strong communication skills with customers, employees, and peers.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Preferred:
    One year of equipment sales experience; experience in an agricultural dealership preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
  • Passing a driving record, criminal background check, employment verification, and drug screen prior to employment.
  • Certified Crop Advisor certification preferred.
Working Environment
  • Regular travel to customer and store locations.
  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather and uneven terrain; exposure to insects.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
  • Moderate noise level.
  • PPE required: cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform.
  • Long hours, overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings; may rotate on‑call responsibilities.
Physical Activities
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk (including unpaved terrain), use arms and hands, operate computer and telephone.
  • Moderate physical activity: moving objects up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently.
  • Close, distance, and color vision; ability to adjust focus.
