Assistant Director of Transportation and Mobility
Join the City of Miami Beach as an Assistant Director of Transportation and Mobility and help shape a high-profile, multimodal transportation program that moves millions of people each year and enhances the daily life of residents, visitors, and the workforce.
Responsibilities- Lead program delivery across the Department’s traffic and transit divisions.
- Oversee the planning, design, and construction of a multi‑million dollar portfolio of capital projects.
- Translate complex engineering and operational issues into clear, compelling narratives for elected officials, community groups, and agency partners.
- Represent the Department with elected officials, community and advocacy groups, agency partners, and stakeholders, stepping in for the Director when needed.
- Manage a demanding and fluctuating workload with professional composure under pressure.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Seven (7) years of professional experience in transportation/traffic engineering, transportation planning, and transit service planning/operations.
- Engineer Intern (EI) and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
The salary range for this position is $144,910 to $262,175 annually, with an expected starting salary between $160,000 and $190,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined benefit pension plan and other competitive benefits.
