Overview
The Universal Banker Senior role consists of assisting clients by providing exceptional customer service and accurately and efficiently performing all paying, receiving, and collection functions. It involves processing transactions while adhering to strict security measures and balancing procedures. The Senior Banker is cross‑trained across all servicing functions of the platform to support other bankers and is responsible for tasks such as opening accounts, wire transfers, changing addresses, and client research.
The role ensures accuracy, excellence in client service, and compliance with security and regulatory procedures, promotes and identifies cross‑selling opportunities, provides guidance and training to other bankers, and participates in scheduling and mentorship duties.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Proactively and pleasantly greet clients to establish connection and develop rapport, providing outstanding, personalized client experience.
- Assist in the lobby, ensure clients are attended to, and refer clients to appropriate bank personnel to meet their financial needs.
- Execute a variety of transactions with high accuracy and efficiency, maximizing the sales potential of every interaction.
- Consistently meet and/or exceed assigned individual and team referral/sales goals.
- Identify client profiles, ask need‑revealing questions, handle objections, and close referrals to appropriate partners, ensuring client retention and satisfaction.
- Scrub leads through Hoovers or other lists to provide business name leads to sales staff, meeting monthly lead goals.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information obtained.
- Promote bank products and services.
- Adhere to cash handling, operational, security, and BSA/AML policies and procedures.
- Learn and understand servicing functions to support bankers, including complex transactions and balancing practices.
- Open and/or close the branch as part of the two‑member team.
- Provide timely and efficient client service by supporting the banking center team.
- Develop and maintain a prospect list of potential non‑bank leads from teller line transactions.
- Handle checks, debit/credit tickets, and other transactions within established limits.
- Ensure accuracy of bank currency and coin supply, verify cash shipments, and order shipping as needed.
- Perform balancing of ATMs, TCR, and night depository.
- Scan teller work through branch remote capture daily.
- Send files and documents for storage following bank guidelines.
- Contact clients to verify new payees in e‑partner.
- Answer and respond to internal/external client phone calls.
- Respond to emails on behalf of sales staff for missing or incomplete schedules.
- Assist Business Center staff with EZ‑FAT, debit card activation, travel dates, limit increases, disputes, and new card ordering.
- Follow up with clients on missing/pending signature cards.
- Provide access to safe deposit boxes after verifying client identity.
- Follow up past‑due safe deposit box rent.
- Witness drilling of safe deposit boxes due to lost keys or abandoned property.
- Prepare abandoned property for escheatment.
- Perform complex service and branch functions such as outgoing inputs.
- Assist Universal Banker with complex transactions and client maintenance.
- Approve checks, debit/credit tickets, and other necessary transactions within limits.
- Handle vault duties and ATM reconciliations.
- Perform balancing of TCRs as applicable.
- Maintain accurate remote capture and key/combo assignments.
- Educate clients on all digital products.
- Complete domestic/international wires per authorized limits and policies.
- Perform routine client service functions such as change of address, statements, check book orders, ATM/Debit card orders, PIN changes.
- Increase bank relationships through cross‑selling, marketing, telemarketing, and client relations.
- Adjust work hours and location as needed, including Saturday work.
- Assist with training Universal Bankers.
- Assign ATM/Vault balancing and other teller tasks to Universal Bankers.
