Certified Pharmacy Technician

Base Pay Range

$17.50/hr - $21.00/hr

• Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with state, federal, and company policies.
• Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
• Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Develops strong relationships with high‑value customers.

• Under supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the practice of pharmacy, reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager using pharmacy systems, filling prescriptions, verifying medication, and managing workflow.
• Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adheres to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Registers all related sales on assigned cash register, handles cash, and assists customers in locating products across the pharmacy.
• Handles telephonic inquiries that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
• Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription services and performs clerical duties as assigned.
• Supports inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Assists in administering clinical services, collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinating Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
• Maintains relationships with local medical community through detailed outreach.
• Ensures the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Complies with all company policies and maintains respectful coworker relationships.

• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated program; earns PTCB certification as a condition for promotion to senior technician if not already certified.
• Attends required training, completes PPLs, and acquires continuing education credits to maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Prefer six months of retail experience.
• Prefer prior Walgreens work experience.
• Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
• Prefer strong computer skills.
• Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
