The roleAt Soho House, a Busser is responsible for curating an organized, clean, and structured member and guest experience. The Busser supports runners, servers, and management by cleaning and resetting tables, ensuring the availability of flatware and plates, and bringing guest needs to the attention of waitstaff. They also restock necessary items such as napkins and straws and may assist with washing dishes.
A successful Busser will be efficient, attentive, and have strong customer service skills.
Main Duties- Detail all tables before service begins, ensuring place settings are neat, organized, and candles are on the tables
- Ensure appropriate table setting and china is used for various services throughout the day; breakfast, lunch, dinner or feast service; mis en place (ketchup, salt, pepper, HP and sugar bowl)
- Stock all stations upon arrival (small plates, sharing plates, water and wine glasses, and all silverware) and maintain them throughout service, working with your team to keep the bread warmer full and neat
- Maintain section and ensure bread and water is delivered upon guests’ arrival while also assisting other sections when applicable
- Clear tables, plates, silver / glassware between each course and subsequently wipe down and re‑set the table for new guests
- Polish silverware and potwash are stored according to local standards
- Complete side work before and after service (see side work sheets for details)
- Ensure the cabinet and shelf in the bar area are full before service (glassware – silverware – plateware)
- Remove all dirty linen from station and ensure trash is emptied and cleaned
Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a similar role
- Flexible schedule and open to working weekends and holidays (when needed)
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Detail‑oriented ability to multitask and deliver results in demanding, fast‑paced environments
- Basic verbal communication skills
- Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands
- Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours
- Fast‑paced movements are required to move from one part of the club to others
- Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds
- Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required
