As a Structural Engineer in LJA Transportation, you will design and develop concrete and steel structures—including retaining walls, lift stations, pump stations, and treatment plants—for clients such as TxDOT, MUDs, LIDs, and other public and private entities. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other LJA sectors, apply sound engineering judgment, and mentor junior staff—all within a supportive, team‑oriented environment that values connection and collaboration.

• Performing design calculations, preparing plans, and developing design documents for clients such as MUDs, LIDs, TxDOT, and other governmental and private entities.
• Designing concrete and steel civil structures such as retaining walls, lift stations, stormwater pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, levees, and related infrastructure improvements.
• Interacting with task leaders, multidisciplinary team members, clients, and other consultants.
• Providing structural support for other LJA sectors such as Land Development, Rail, Health & Healing, and Energy.
• Exercising judgment in independently evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Mentoring direct reports and conveying knowledge to others.
• Participating in team lunches/breakfasts and social activities.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer

• Effective communication skills to engage with other employee‑owners.
• Experience with structural governing codes and specifications such as AASHTO LRFD, ACI, AISC, or IBC.

• Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering
• Experience with large‑scale TxDOT or Public Works projects
• Familiarity with ACI 350 design methodology
• Advanced skills in specialized structural design or analysis software programs
• Technical training experience
• TxDOT pre‑certifications
