Indirect Tax Manager

Inceed has partnered with a thriving retail company to help find a skilled Indirect Tax Manager to join their team!

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take ownership of indirect tax compliance and strategy in a dynamic environment. This role provides the chance to manage a team, collaborate cross-functionally with departments like legal, IT, and product development, and be at the forefront of tax compliance innovation. Ideal for a process-driven leader who enjoys solving complex problems and driving continuous improvement, this position is open due to growing business needs and evolving compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all indirect tax compliance processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and return filings
• Supervise the configuration and ongoing maintenance of tax calculation software, including POS and product taxability mapping
• Manage audits, including planning, coordinating, and resolving audit-related issues and post-audit disputes
• Lead initiatives for tax holidays, system testing, and training coordination with internal departments
• Act as the subject matter expert on indirect tax matters, ensuring accurate tax treatment across business operations
• Monitor changes in business structure, tax laws, and nexus thresholds, adapting systems and processes accordingly
• Maintain accurate tax coding for product launches and enhancements in collaboration with development and sales teams
• Train and mentor tax team members and provide clear status updates to leadership on all tax-related projects

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field or equivalent years of work experience
• 5+ years of experience in indirect tax, including supervising team members
• Strong tax research and analytical skills; ability to plan audits and manage post-audit defenses
• Deep understanding of accounting systems and indirect tax software integration
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and tax/accounting software

Nice To Have Skills & Experience

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
• Experience using Vertex or similar tax automation software
• Experience delivering training and cross-functional tax-related presentations
• Familiarity with software configuration, rule testing, and refund coordination
