Clinical Nurse Coordinator (RN) - Special Isolation Unit

We are searching for a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Special Isolation Unit at West Campus. The Special Isolation Unit (SIU) at West Campus is a uniquely designed biocontainment unit built to provide high quality and safe care for pediatric patients with highly hazardous infections. This unit is staffed by a trained Special Response team of dedicated volunteers from all across Texas Children's Hospital.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred) or associate's degree/diploma in nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
  • Current RN license in Texas
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Experience in a TCH Special Isolation Unit or a Biocontainment Unit that cares for High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCID) preferred
  • Pediatric intensive care experience preferred
Expectations
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information and work independently.
  • Knowledge of nursing and bedside procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to problem solve.
Responsibilities
  • Lead Readiness:
    Coordinate unit and system preparedness to receive HCID patients quickly and safely.
  • Empower Teams:
    Manage onboarding and ongoing education for the SIU Response Team.
  • Shape Policy:
    Collaborate with the medical director and clinical specialist to develop and maintain SIU policies and procedures.
  • Drive Innovation:
    Participate in data collection and research to advance best practices.
  • Secure Sustainability:
    Assist leadership in identifying grants and funding to support operations.
  • Build Partnerships:
    Work closely with local, regional, and national partners to strengthen HCID preparedness.

Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus is Houston’s first community hospital designed, built, and equipped exclusively for children in a rapidly growing area from Sugar Land to Bryan‑College Station, Texas. Located at I‑10 and Barker Cypress, our 515,007‑square‑foot hospital houses the only 24/7 pediatric emergency room in the Greater West Houston area, four operating rooms, a 16‑bed pediatric intensive care unit, 46 acute care beds, advanced imaging services including MRI and CT scans, a neurophysiology sleep lab, a pathology lab and a full‑scale pharmacy.
