Job Title
MEAT/ASST DEPT LEADER – Kroger
Job OverviewCreate an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals and control quality assurance standards.
Responsibilities- Promote trust and respect among associates with a positive attitude.
- Communicate company, department, and job‑specific information to associates.
- Establish department performance goals and empower associates to exceed targets through teamwork.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
- Train and develop associates on job performance and participate in performance appraisal.
- Create an environment that welcomes customers, answers product questions, and makes suggestions.
- Inform customers of produce specials and offer product samples.
- Review and inspect products for quality and freshness.
- Develop and implement a business plan to achieve desired results.
- Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
- Educate associates about in‑store promotions and departmental promotions.
- Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
- Implement the promotional plan for the department.
- Assist management in preparing the store/department budget, expense control, and profit and loss reviews.
- Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Plan and organize the inventory process, train associates on inventory/stocking, and use CAO.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
- Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions, perform preventive maintenance, and notify management of repair needs.
- Report all safety risks, illegal activity, and theft or fraud.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Current food‑handler permit (obtained once employed).
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in meat/retail or management.
- Second language (speaking, reading, and writing).
