Requirements:
  • Level 5+ qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering OR at least 5 years' relevant experience in a steel fabrication manufacturing company.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  • A working knowledge of quality management systems and processes (ISO 9001).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Northern Ireland/UK and travel throughout the island of Ireland if required; if you do require a visa/work permit allowing you to work in Northern Ireland/UK you must upload a copy of it with your application. Failure to provide a relevant Visa/Work permit may result in your application not being considered.
  • Knowledge of ERP computerised systems.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of six sigma/lean manufacturing.
About the role:

Responsibilities
  • Ensure inspections are completed on all incoming raw materials and components to ensure they meet quality standards before being used in production.
  • Ensure inspection are completed at various stages of the manufacturing process such as cutting, kitting, welding, paint and assembly to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform final inspections on finished products to verify they meet the required specifications before they are shipped to customers.
  • Continuously monitor production processes and recorded issues to identify any deviations from quality standards.
  • Identify and document any internal defects or non-conformities in products or processes.
  • Liaise and resolve all customer and supplier quality related issues.
  • Document and investigate all customer quality faults which have arisen from internal production faults or processes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the underlying causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Resolve all internal quality related issues with the production team.
  • Liaise with all production departments regarding any quality related issues.
  • Make informed decisions regarding quality issues which have resulted in production stoppages.
  • Identify and document any defects or non-conformities in products or processes.
  • Keep detailed records of inspections, and quality control activities.
  • Prepare reports on quality metrics, non-conformances, and corrective actions for management review.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
  • Work with the production supervisors to implement process improvements and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Review and update the Quality Management System documents to ensure they remain applicable and in line with the company policy and objectives.
  • Work with the companies Quality Management System to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and drive the quality performance within the company.
  • Help implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) to streamline quality control processes and ensure consistent quality management.
  • Ensure products meet customer-specific requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure that all inspection and testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated such as the torque wrenches.
  • Train production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and proper use of quality control tools and equipment.
  • Work closely with the operational supervisors and assist in the training of staff regarding quality awareness and standards.
  • Communicate quality issues and improvement initiatives to all relevant stakeholders, including production, engineering, and management teams.
  • Conduct audits of suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve the quality of supplied materials.
  • Meet and liaise with customers during any internal quality audits or visits.
