JOB DUTIES
: The Clinic Receptionist II is responsible for independently providing a variety of clerical and office assistance to support the clinic. Interviews patients or accompanying parties to obtain required data; inputs information into computer system; and diagnostic studies. This position will assist the clinic in scheduling appointments, registering patients to be seen by the Physician, maintaining patient files, processing information for billing purposes, accepting payment for services, answers the telephone, greets patients, processes referrals/transfers and performs other duties as assigned.
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
:
- General Clerical
Experience:
Two (2) years of responsible typing, stenographic, substantive clerical work, or any combination of these experiences which duties demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, observe differences in copy and proofread words and numbers quickly and accurately, and operate various kinds of office equipment;
and ability to deal effectively with others in eliciting information and providing service. - Specialized
Experience:
One-half (1/2) year of work experience performing receptionist activities in a clinic; interviewing patients and/or responsible persons to obtain required information; inputting of data into a computer system; scheduling appointments, diagnostic studies and outpatient procedures; performing a variety of fiscal record keeping functions and preparing and maintenance of medical records.
CERTIFICATION
:
- Type with speed and accuracy involving a net of 40 words per-minute is preferred.
LICENSURE
:
- None required.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of Business English; grammar; spelling; arithmetic; common office appliances and equipment; computers; and office practices and procedures. Ability to communicate and deal tactfully, respectfully with others; strong customer service skills. Ability to interact and communicate with hospital staff, patients, visitors, family members, physicians, other health care organizations, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation and the community. Ability to collect and use information to make sound judgments within the scope of responsibilities.
Must be able to prioritize, manage, take direction and exemplify outstanding customer service behavior. Ability to carry out a variety of standard office clerical procedures learn and apply pertinent statutory provisions, rules, instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form; operate and maintain various common office appliances; prepare simple narrative and numerical reports; perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately;
speak and write simply and directly.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employee must meet the health and physical requirements deemed necessary to effectively and safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Work is usually sedentary, performed seated or standing indoors and is repetitive in nature. Surroundings can be very distracting and noisy and may require local, regional and statewide travel.
