JOB LOCATION: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL – Physical Therapy

SALARY RANGE: $4,858/month (SR20, BU13) + an additional $3,113/month Shortage Differential

JOB DUTIES: The Physical Therapist III position prepares treatment plans and administers all physical therapy procedures for the full range of cases falling within the scope of a program for the treatment or prevention of physical disability or disease; performs evaluations and prepares testing summaries; may provide all physical therapy services for a clinic, hospital, and performs other related duties as assigned.

This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least one (1) year of experience as a professional physical therapist is preferred.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Employee must work with other people, both patients and co-workers, in a manner as to be productive in obtaining patient care goals and being time efficient. Must have good working knowledge of the use and application of all equipment to provide Physical Therapy services.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing as evidenced by accurate, concise, and objective documentation of findings and reports. Ability to anticipate what will be required or needed to effectively and efficiently complete assigned duties and responsibilities.

CERTIFICATION:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers at the time of appointment.

LICENSURE:

• Applicants must possess a valid unrevoked license issued by the State of Hawaii to practice as a Physical Therapist.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of: Anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and related sciences; principles and practices of physical therapy; the technical procedures and modalities of physical therapy; current treatment techniques including use and modification of appropriate therapy equipment and appliances; and available physical therapy resources in the community.

Ability to: Independently plan and administer physical therapy treatments based upon medical diagnosis; test for and evaluate clients’ physical limitations; explain physical therapy treatments and instruct clients and others in the application of the physical therapy procedures; deal effectively with patients; set up treatment schedules and determine when therapies should be discontinued; keep records and prepare reports; supervise subprofessional physical therapy personnel.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be physically able to perform, efficiently and effectively, the essential duties of the position which typically require the ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters, glasses permitted, and the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, or the ability to compensate satisfactorily. Disabilities in these or other areas will not automatically result in disqualification.

Those who demonstrate that they are capable of performing the essential functions of the position will not be disqualified under this section. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Ability to work in an air-conditioned environment.
