JOB TITLE: REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE III-LACTATION NURSE
RECRUITMENT NO.: KCH 22-197 (Permanent, Part-Time, 90% FTE)
JOB LOCATION: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL – Women’s Health Services
SALARY RANGE: 90% of $8,937 PER MONTH (SR-20; BU:09)
JOB DUTIES: The Women’s Health Services is concerned with all phases of nursing care involving prenatal, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care; provides education in women’s health issues such as lactation and birthing education. After cross-training to the OR, OB nurses can scrub and/or circulate for repeat C-sections, if the census allows.
The Registered Professional Nurse, also known as the Lactation RN, coordinates lactation care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions. Incumbents of this position may be required to work shifts, weekends and holidays. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS;
SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE
: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE:One-half (1/2) year of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in lactation counselling, labor and delivery with mother/baby couplet care where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients. Such experience must have been gained within the last five (5) years.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Workers, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required at the time of appointment. Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab work, Emotional Support (STABLE) and Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring is preferred. Certified Lactation Consultant or equivalent certification preferred – International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is strongly preferred.
LICENSURE:
Possession of a current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE:
Possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must have been of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of this position. Provide a detailed description of your duties and responsibilities. If you worked on a part-time basis, indicate the average number of hours worked per week.
