JOB TITLE: REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE III- 90% FTE

RECRUITMENT NO: KCH 25-33 (PERMANENT/PART TIME)

JOB LOCATION: KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL – INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

SALARY RANGE: 90% of $8,937/month (SR-20; BU:09)

JOB DUTIES
:

The Intensive Care Unit provides services with specially trained nursing staff and support resources for patients requiring critical care on a concentrated and continuous basis. The ICU monitors infectious patients, trauma patients, post-op ICU patients and patients with substance abuse problems and/or conduct disorders of all ages.

The Registered Professional Nurse coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SHIFTS AS NECESSARY BASED ON HOSPITAL OPERATIONS; SERVICES ARE PROVIDED 24/7.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE
:
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION:
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE:
One-half (1/2) year of progressively responsible professional nursing work experience in an intensive care setting where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients. Such experience must have been gained within the last two (2) years.

CERTIFICATION
:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification are required within six (6) months of employment. Critical Care Course (CCRN) preferred, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.

LICENSE
:
Possession of a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

Required Forms & Documentation:

Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g., official transcript or degree) to be given credit for education and/or experience. A legible photocopy will be accepted; however, Kona Community Hospital reserves the right to request an official copy.
