SALARY RATE: $59.14 (Hourly) based on the FTE

JOB DUTIES : The function of the Med-Surg Float Pool is to coordinate relationships of nursing services with other departments. Provides managerial assistance to nursing units. Evaluates patient care and plans for current and future needs. Provides nursing care to all patients:
Behavioral Health;
Medical;
Surgical;
Skilled Nursing; and Women’s Health.

C. The Registered Professional Nurse III coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions. This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION:Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

NURSING

EXPERIENCE:

One-half (1/2) year of responsible professional nursing work experience. Of the required one-half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, one-half (1/2) year of professional nursing experience working in an acute-care setting is highly desired. Telemetry work experience is preferred.

QUALITY OF

EXPERIENCE:

Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.

LICENSE

REQUIRED:

License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Workers is required at the time of appointment. Nurses competent in Critical Care areas and PACU/Short Stay, must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months of employment.

For certain positions, possession of a motor vehicle operator's license is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE OF: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and developments in nursing.

ABILITY TO: Apply nursing theory and practices to planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition and take appropriate action; direct the work of nursing assistants; work effectively and cooperatively with patients, family members, medical staff and employees.
