SALARY RATE: $102,384 - $115,160 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE
JOB DUTIESThe Emergency Department provides medical screening examinations, ongoing assessment and initial treatment/or advice to patients with illnesses or injuries who present to department for treatment. Emergency care is offered 24 hours a day with an experienced physician on duty with specialty consultants from the medical staff available in a timely fashion.
C. The Registered Professional Nurse coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions. This position may be required to works shifts, weekends, and holidays
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATIONGraduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
NURSING EXPERIENCEOne-half (1/2) year of responsible professional nursing work experience. Of the required one-half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, one-half (1/2) year of professional nursing experience working in an emergency room setting is highly desired.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCEPossession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
CERTIFICATIONCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Health Care Worker required at the time of appointment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification are required within six (6) months of employment.
LICENSE REQUIREDLicense to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.
For certain positions, possession of a motor vehicle operator's license is required.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIREDKNOWLEDGE OF: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and developments in nursing.
ABILITY TO: Apply nursing theory and practices to planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition and take appropriate action; direct the work of nursing assistants; work effectively and cooperatively with patients, family members, medical staff and employees.
