SALARY RANGE :BU09 | SR20

SALARY RATE: $113, 760 (Annual Salary) based on the FTE

JOB DUTIES : The purpose of position is to develop, implement, facilitate and maintain an overall Joint Commission program within the Surgical Services subsection. In addition to functioning as a member of the surgical team and is primary responsibility for assisting surgeons in an operating room by rendering a variety of specialized nursing services as a circulating nurse or a scrub nurse, and preparing for the various types of surgical operations requiring a thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.

This position may be required to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

NURSING

EXPERIENCE:

One-half (1/2) year of professional nursing work experience, where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital or institution. One (1) year of inpatient or outpatient surgical experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATION:Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of appointment.

LICENSE

REQUIRED:

License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

QUALITY OF

EXPERIENCE:

Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.

For certain positions, possession of a motor vehicle operator's license is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE OF: Nursing theory and practice; biological, physical, social and medicinal sciences as related to nursing theory and practice; nursing techniques and procedures; nursing literature and current trends and developments in nursing.

ABILITY TO: Apply nursing theory and practices to planning and giving nursing care; recognize, interpret and evaluate symptoms of patient's condition and take appropriate action; direct the work of nursing assistants; work effectively and cooperatively with patients, family members, medical staff and employees.
