Concrete Construction General Laborer – Bettis Companies – Odessa, NE, with extensive travel across the Midwest (Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska). Starts at $19.00/hour and includes medical, dental, vision insurance options and per diem benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Prep construction sites by clearing obstacles and hazards.
  • Assemble and disassemble all temporary structures and forms.
  • Manage traffic movement and traffic control in the construction area.
  • Clean up rubble and debris and perform general housekeeping and cleanup of the job site.
  • Loading and unloading materials and supplies.
  • Digging trenches, removing filling, and/or compacting earth with use of shovels and rakes.
  • Follow supervisors' instructions and assist carpenters and other skilled craftspeople with tasks such as concrete footings, setting curb forms, ADA forms, and paving forms.
  • Build job‑specific wood forms and assemble commercially available form systems.
  • Demonstrate versatility by properly utilizing heavy machinery such as excavator and skid loader as needed.
  • Finish bridge decks such as concrete vibration.
  • Set and tie steel as required.
  • Pour, grade, and finish concrete.
  • Shovel dirt, gravel, and asphalt.
  • Check and maintain grade stakes and other survey markings.
  • Maintain equipment and tools.
  • Enter confined spaces as required.
  • Rigging.
  • Provide flagging and directions to crane operators.
  • Walk on rebar, perform incidental work items, and other construction‑related duties as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and represent the company professionally on and off the job site.
Qualifications
  • Over 18 years of age.
  • Pass pre‑employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
  • Pass post‑offer physical with a “Capable” result.
  • Familiar with staking and checking grade.
  • Experience using a concrete vibrator and other finishing tools.
  • Familiar with construction terminology and hand signals.
  • In‑depth knowledge of construction procedures, OSHA guidelines, and construction equipment, including safe operating practices and signs of maintenance issues.
  • Excellent time‑management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent follow‑through.
  • Dependable and able to work independently with little supervision as well as with a team.
  • Able to use hand and power tools and possess basic mechanical skills.
  • Ready to learn from on‑the‑job training when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required by the workload.
  • Must be able to run 15 90lb chipping hammer/sack hammer for an extended amount of time.
  • Ability to stoop and kneel frequently; to climb, balance, crouch, and crawl occasionally.
  • Ability to lift 0‑25 pounds constantly; 25‑75 pounds frequently; 75+ pounds occasionally.
  • Constant exposure to weather extremes, dust/fumes; constant time spent working on feet.
  • Occasional use of vibratory tools and work above/below ground.
  • Must have cumalong and straight‑edge experience.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and all types of terrain.
  • Able to meet all physical requirements; tolerate loud noises, odors, gases, dust, etc.
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures, confined spaces, high places, and excavated areas.
  • Some travel may be required depending on the job.
