Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

  • Prepare and sterilize all surgical supplies, instruments, solutions, and medications.
  • Meticulously organize sterile tables and anticipate surgical team needs.
  • Perform accurate counts, manage specimens, and uphold the highest sterile technique.
  • Ensure a safe environment, report issues, and assist with OR turnaround.
  • Provide essential on-call support with a 30-minute response time.
Job Requirements

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or completion of on the job training as a scrub tech with minimum of 5 years' experience or Completion of an accredited medical personnel program such as but not limited to CNA, Medical Assistant, LPN, EMT I / II, or SPD tech who are willing to do on the job training with a structured competency regimen.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers Air Care emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
