AboutThe Role
Cancer Partners of Nebraska is seeking a compassionate and experienced Physician Nurse to join our Radiation Oncology team. This role is essential in coordinating patient care, supporting our physicians, and ensuring an exceptional experience for patients and their families. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and demonstrates strong clinical judgement, empathy, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate patient care in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
- Communicate with outside agencies, specialty clinics, and partners regarding patient needs.
- Provide education to patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and symptom management.
- Participate in patient care visits, document assessments, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Assist physicians in monitoring and managing treatment-related symptoms.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and deliver care with compassion and empathy.
- Carry out additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the COO.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State of Nebraska or compact equivalent).
- Current BLS certification.
- Minimum three (3) years of oncology experience.
- Knowledge of nursing processes, healthcare systems, clinic operations, and community resources.
- Understanding of HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable federal/state regulations.
- Strong clinical skills in oncology, infusion practices, patient safety, and documentation.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in multidisciplinary patient care coordination
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal).
- High level of initiative, critical thinking, and decision-making.
- Ability to build strong relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
- Work performed in exam rooms and clinical office settings.
- Frequent exposure to infectious conditions typical of a clinical environment.
- Requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, bending, and general physical mobility.
- Occasional stress related to patient conditions and workload.
