Overview
Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Nurse Manager to join the Kearney Cancer Center team in Kearney, NE. The Nurse Manager leads and oversees daily operations of the cancer center or infusion unit, including staff scheduling, hiring, performance management, resource and budget oversight, quality and compliance adherence, policy and improvement initiatives, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Shift Details- Full Time | 1.0 FTE | 40 scheduled weekly hours
- Monday - Friday | First Shift

Responsibilities- Direct, plan and coordinate the operations of a patient care department(s).
- Achieve department and organizational goals and ensure optimal outcomes for designated patient populations within approved operating budget.
- Hire, fire, counsel and evaluate department staff.
- Initiate and maintain effective communication to promote positive department relations for the organization.
- Minimum of five years recent nursing experience.
- Minimum of two years experience to oversee the work of a group of people, hire, fire, assign work, orient, train, evaluate, discipline, coach/mentor and/or negotiate and interpret conflicts and influence outcomes on matters of significance OR four years of experience including serving as a technical expert, mentoring, training, prioritizing, and providing guidance on performance actions.
- Bachelor s degree in nursing required.
- Flexibility and dedication to team environment; ability to lead and develop teams; effective written and verbal communication; ability to anticipate and respond to changes in direction and priorities.
- Well-ordered approach to problem solving and positive interpersonal/behavioral skills.
- Experience with patient care equipment, telecommunication equipment, information systems, general patient care supplies, transport equipment, office equipment/supplies, and audiovisual equipment.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or a current compact state license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association endorsed program.
- Prior leadership or management experience.
- Experience in oncology or relevant specialty areas depending on unit served.
- Master s degree in nursing or related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
