ALL ABOUT GENERAL MERCHANDISE

Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store.

Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

• Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

As a General Merchandise Expert, No Two Days Are Ever The Same, But a Typical Day Will Most Likely Include The Following Responsibilities:

• Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing daily tasks
• Engage with guests to assist with their needs and solve issues
• Thank guests and acknowledge their choice to shop at Target
• Perform daily tasks assigned by leadership to support business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, merchandising, and posting promotional signs in GM areas
• Operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures if certified
• Execute processes such as price changes, merchandise setup and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed
• Learn how operational procedures impact inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
• Know the resources, products, and services available to help solve guest issues and enhance their experience
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
• Work safely, comply with safety policies, report hazards and correct where possible
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking/packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while observing applicable laws
• All other duties as assigned based on business needs

• Accurate cash handling as needed
• Ability to climb ladders
• Safety-focused handling and movement of merchandise, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance
• Flexible work schedule with reliable attendance
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
• Mobility for the duration of a scheduled shift
