Qualifications- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalency.
- Valid Nebraska CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements (or ability to obtain).
- Good driving record.
- Positive attitude and teamwork oriented.
- Physical ability to respond to emergency situations while driving.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Professional and calm interaction with students and families.
- Availability on Saturdays and Sundays helpful but not required.
- Drive routes at assigned times.
- Ensure student safety by maintaining a safe environment on the bus and monitoring bus stop safety.
- Report to bus barn 30 minutes before departure to complete pre-trip safety inspections.
- Understand and follow all state and board rules and regulations for bussing.
- Keep interior of the bus clean.
- Monitor safety supplies in all special education vehicles.
- Maintain emergency response checklist:
First Aid, Insurance card and registration. - Ensure only registered and approved students and staff ride in the vehicle.
- Inform Transportation Director of any accidents or traffic violations immediately.
- Exercise sound judgment and maintain good public relations with parents, students, and staff.
- Accepts responsibility.
- Proficient in written and oral communication.
- Works well with children and adults.

At‑Will EmploymentEmployment with the Kearney Public School district is at-will and may be terminated at any time by either party.
