Charge Registered Nurse – CFG Health
Job Summary
A Charge Nurse, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, manages a specific unit during their shift. Responsibilities include issuing orders and delegating tasks among staff nurses, admitting and discharging patients, assigning nurses to patients, and ordering and inventorying medical supplies.
- Administers the nursing program under the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing, directly supervising one shift and sharing 24‑hour responsibility for all nursing and paraprofessional personnel.
- Participates in the recruitment and orientation of new nursing personnel.
- Actively participates in in‑service training programs and staff meetings; organizes training seminars and courses to educate new staff or introduce new procedures and protocols.
- Helps develop and implement policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the Health Care Unit and confers with Directors of Nursing on policy and program development.
- Evaluates staff performance and provides corrective measures when necessary.
- Schedules evaluation conferences for non‑supervisory nursing personnel and participates in their performance evaluations on a regular basis.
- Collaborates with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and initiate health reviews.
- Supervises the preparation of records of nursing care and other treatments given to patients, planning and supervising the implementation of nursing care techniques.
- Supervises emergency medical care in accordance with written facility policies.
- Serves as liaison between nursing staff and Directors of Nursing to relay pertinent information, acting as a consultant for problem solving aimed at improving health care delivery.
- Responsible for the security of medications, supplies, and equipment.
- Prepares and submits daily, monthly, and annual medical records and reports as requested by administrative staff.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities as assigned.
- Attends staff and administrative meetings as requested.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills.

- Assertive, empathetic, and able to provide objective care.
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to command respect and confidence of patients and staff; philosophically committed to the facility’s objectives.
- Maintains an active Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Graduation from an approved nursing education program with a diploma or an Associate Degree in Nursing.
- One to two years of professional nursing experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment, and take appropriate actions as needed.
- Adherence to all departmental policies and procedures.
- Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
