Position: Childcare Associate Teacher - Full Time

Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher and Director, the Associate Teacher provides direction for the program and classroom and implements the program curriculum. Provides quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions of the Associate Teacher
  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with childcare families while exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
  • Responds to all inquiries in a timely manner.
  • As a full-time employee you must be dependable, and you will be expected to build consistency and stability in the classroom for the children in your care.
  • Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Assists with designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
  • Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  • Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Conducts parent conferences with the Lead Teacher and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
  • Engages parents as volunteers.
  • Maintains program site and equipment.
  • Maintains required program records.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year)

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by childcare licensing.
  • At least 18 years of age
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Health form completed within the 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Preferred Level Qualifications
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
