Keene State College seeks an outstanding teacher/scholar of Genocide Studies who will enhance the College’s role as a leader in the field of Holocaust and Genocide Studies.
Keene State College is proud to be the first undergraduate institution in the country to offer a four-year baccalaureate degree in this field. The successful candidate should be prepared to offer new courses and courses in areas not currently supported in the curriculum.
Candidates should be able to contribute to the department at all levels, including undergraduate and graduate programs. The Cohen Endowed Chair will teach a reduced course load of four courses each academic year. Teaching responsibilities are at both the undergraduate and graduate level and may include contributions to the College’s general education curriculum. This reduced teaching load supports the College’s commitment to the position in making possible increased time for scholarship, student recruitment, and departmental grant‑writing.
Other support includes supplemental annual funds for professional research and travel. In addition to supporting the Department of Holocaust and Genocide Studies (academic program), Keene State College also houses the Cohen Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies. The Institute, which launched in September 2024, is an expansion of the Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies which has historically offered public‑facing events and programs for constituents on and off campus.
This endowed faculty position will have the opportunity to engage with the Institute as it grows to full operations, including the chance to apply for new funded research opportunities, opportunities for enhancing one’s professional network, and more.
